Our staff will guide substitute teacher applicants in processing an emergency substitute permit. California state minimum requirements are:
CBEST passing scores
Department of Justice/FBI Criminal History Clearance
$500 - (One Time- Signing on Bonus) 5 completed jobs with positive feedback
$50- (Recurring Bonus- Monthly) Complete at least 1 job each week of the month
Additionally, a renewal permits for substitute teachers must be processed via the online renewal program at (http://www.ctc.ca.gov) for a fee of $102.00 payable by Mastercard or Visa. The online renewal process MUST be completed prior to the expiration date on your current credential. You will not be allowed to continue with your substitute employment without a valid permit.

After registering your substitute permit with the Ventura County Office Of Education, please contact the Human Resources Department at 805-640-4300 X1041. We will work with you to accommodate your preferences to teach specific grade levels or subjects.
