Ojai Unified School District

Dear Ojai Unified School District Community, The Board of Ojai Unified School District is considering building housing for its employees on its downtown District Office property. We would love to obtain community input pertaining to this project and more specifically what features the community would like to see included if such a project were to be developed. Here are some of the design considerations which have been raised to date: -40-60 units -Unit sizes: 1 bedroom, 2 bedroom and 3 bedroom -Two-story buildings -Public walkways and open spaces -Retention of the courtyard for the Farmer’s Market -Solar -EV charging stations -Bicycle storage -Parking structure vs. spread out parking -Sound mitigation and noise reduction considerations -Outdoor spaces/decks/patios -Creeks or water features -Considerations for tree planting and vegetation We are offering in-person meetings in order for community members to provide thoughts, ideas and suggestions for the Board’s consideration. In addition if anyone has thoughts on the more technical aspects of this proposal (See Board agenda 2-15-24 item 7.2) we would welcome those ideas as well. There will be four opportunities to attend these input meetings. They will be held in the Boardroom at the District Office property at 414 E. Ojai Avenue on the following dates and times: Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at 8:30AM and 5:00PM Thursday, May 2, 2024 at 8:30AM and 5:00PM We hope to see you there. Dear Ojai Unified Staff and Families, As you are all aware, there is a significant rainstorm hitting California Saturday through Tuesday. District staff are monitoring the storm closely and as of today it appears that the heaviest rain will be between noon on Sunday through about 9PM. There is continued rain expected Monday, however, the models are predicting lighter rain on Monday. We have staff assigned to monitor schools on Sunday to prevent flooding and damage. We will also monitor updates about road closures through the VC Alert System. If there are no major road closures Monday morning, we have staff ready to drive the roads starting at 5AM to evaluate the conditions. If there is damage, unsafe conditions or significant road closures that would necessitate closing schools, we will send a ParentSquare message out to families by 6:30AM on Monday morning.
