Attention Campers! For those past or future GGLP students who are considering the two week adventure in the high Sierras, there will be a meeting TODAY, at 12:50, outside of D-8. Whether you need paperwork, or are ready to turn your paperwork in, please plan on attending this brief meeting. Cam Spaulding, the Golden Trout will be present to answer any questions you have. --

Come see ‘Dance Anyways’ featuring your favorite Nordhoff dancers on Saturday, May 22 @ 7:30 p.m. in the Nordhoff Outdoor Quad next to the Performing Arts Building. $5 tickets on sale Tuesday-Thursday on campus or on 
nhsdance.com, but there are limited tickets available so hurry!
SENIORS, for our senior rally we will be doing a senior video,
 except it will be a then and now video from your freshman to senior year. To send in your pictures you can email Mrs. Cull-Michaels, dm them to our senior instagram page @nordhoffseniors21, send them to Brian Herrejon or Dani Gonzalez. We only need 1 photo from your freshman year and 1 photo from your senior year. Please turn them in ASAP, after 2 weeks you will personally receive a note to your 1st block class and if by then there is no photo submitted we will use your photos from the yearbook.

Awards Night will be held on Tuesday, June 1st starting at 7pm. Those students who will be honored are being notified via an email invitation, please RSVP by May 25th.  This event will be livestreamed as well, so anyone can watch and cheer on their classmates! The livestream info will be published closer to the event.

Seniors - Remember to fill out the Final Transcript Request Form so that your final transcript will be sent to college/university you will be attending in the fall. Fill it out in Student Square or see Ms. Escobar in the office.

Please start returning textbooks, English novels and library books! The final due date is June 10th, the last day of school. Many of you still need to return books from the end of the 2019-20 school year. Please do not wait until the last minute!

SENIORS, please come by the NHS Library and pick up your print-out of items/devices that are due before you graduate.

AP Students - If you are taking a digital AP Exam please check your email for important information you need to take the exam. See Ms. Escobar if you have any questions.

Attention juniors and seniors: Prom is June 4th!!  Prom paperwork is now available in the ASB office during breaks between classes and after school.  All Prom attendees are required to fill out paperwork. You will not be able to purchase a ticket unless you have your paperwork completed.  Tickets are on sale for $50 and beginning on Monday, sales will be open to seniors and their guests and juniors and their guests through Friday, May 21st.  Cash in the exact amount, checks, or credit cards will be accepted for ticket purchase.  You must have your completed paperwork with you at the time of ticket purchase.

OUSD Summer School Camps and Classes July 6-30th:

This summer you can explore some exciting technology classes at Nordhoff High School. Do you want to learn about Digital Photo and Video? Game Design? Web Development? Do you want to be an Esports athlete? For more information, or to register your student(s), please visit bit.ly/OUSDSummerSchool21. Classes for special education and credit recovery are also available, but not included in this catalog.
Students who complete a high school camp will earn 5 elective credits for Career Exploration. All camps are Pass/Fail. Students who complete a high school class will receive 5 course credits. Here for the Permission Form  that asks for your permission to hang the Senior banners in downtown Ojai, with your student(s) picture and name.  We don't want to assume everyone is fine with a public display of your child's banner.  Please indicate whether you approve or not to display your child's banner. The deadline to complete the form is May 28. Should you not approve a public display, we will still create and deliver the banner to every student, regardless. (NOTE: if you have already completed the form from our previous post , you do NOT need to complete it again).   Each student will be presented with their personalized banner on or about June 15 to have their friends sign and keep as a fitting memory of this unique 2021 graduation year.

For those Seniors who haven't yet made a pennant, Ms. Beebe wants you to stop by the new College & Career Center office to decorate one. In exchange, she'll give you a cookie!  Her goal is to make an incredibly long and impressive garland of pennants, so help out by adding your post-high school plans to those of your classmates.  All Seniors are welcome regardless of your plans!

NPA Board is seeking nominations and we encourage you to nominate yourself or someone else who brings positive energy, the ability to collaborate, and new ideas and perspectives! In order for our board to function we need a President, VP, Treasurer and Secretary.

The College and Career Center has moved into its new location. You will now find Ms. Beebe in the CCC office in the new Library building. Drop-in office hours are 9:50-10:10am and 11:20-11:40am, or email bbeebe@ojaiusd to make an appointment.

We are in the process of moving into our new Library building. If you need to see the Librarian for anything, you will find her in the new library. Unfortunately, the library is not yet ready for student use. However, you can still check out textbooks, chromebooks, return books, etc..at the new library counter. Look for the door sign to enter. Library Hours: M-Th 9-3:30pm and Fridays 8:30-3 (closed for lunch 11:30-12:30) The librarian, Denise Rimpa, can be reached at

Summer Class Descriptions:

Esports. Did you know that many colleges are beginning to offer scholarships for Esports players? Have you ever wondered how computers are put together or how to fix them? Would you like to learn what makes each computer different and troubleshoot their problems? In this camp, students will not only explore standard IT solutions but also explore the rapidly growing industry of Esports; How it's done and a focus on what technology and programs are needed for different streaming platforms. Students will also play games with the intention of targeting high school, collegiate, and professional esports with a focus on League of Legends, Rocket League, and Super Smash Bros. Students will also learn and practice good online citizenship!
Grades 7-12
Time: Noon to 2:30 PM

Digital Photo and Video Over the course of four weeks, students will focus on the mechanics of Digital Photo and Video Production. Starting with navigating what and how to capture an image through preparing those images and videos for print and online media platforms. Students will use digital cameras to learn about lighting, coloring, green screen, camera settings and angles. Using Adobe Photoshop and Premiere, students edit and produce their own unique footage and create striking images.
Grades 7-12
Time: 8:30 to 11:30 AM

Game Design, Unity is the most popular game engine used to develop video games today. This project-based course goes in-depth in game design fundamentals, teaching students how to design, code, and improve their 2D or 3D games. Students will practice using Unity to create levels, characters, environments, and create guided game projects. Students will then create their own game using mechanics and assets of their choice.
Grades 7-12

Web Development,Harness the power of the web by creating immersive and impactful web apps. In this project-based course, students become fluent in the essential building blocks of web design and layout: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Students will explore modern design trends, frameworks to speed up development, and real-world practices to build a fully functional, dynamic, and responsive web app from scratch.
Grades 7-12
Time: 9 AM to Noon

Get ready to take the classroom outside with the Environmental Science Summer Camp! Learn about the natural world around you and how it changes through seasons, wildfires, and human activity. This course will include guest speakers who are experts in native plants and animals, hydrology, mapping and drone technology, climate science, environmental communications, forestry, composting and green waste, agriculture, eco-tourism, and restoration science. Whether you have a budding interest in the environment or are ready to take a deeper dive, this course has great things to offer, including meeting environmental leaders within the Ojai Valley, and making connections with clubs, volunteer organizations and job opportunities.
Grade 9-12
Time: 9 AM to Noon

Film and Politics, In this course, students will explore social and political themes through films such as Marvel’s Black Panther, The Pursuit of Happiness, and Erin Brockovich. Students will learn about the role film plays as a medium to address race, gender, socioeconomic status, and the environment and how film can challenge current norms of society. We will screen two movies for each weekly topic and students will be asked to analyze the messages expressed and how they relate to the theme of the week.
