Matilija PTO is sponsoring a workshop for parents titled, “Your Child and Social Media” on March 28 at 6:30pm.  This is a subject that parents really need to understand and address to the best of their ability. Please consider attending.

Coincidentally, I had already been researching resources for parents. Here’s a short video regarding the topic. There are plenty of others available on the internet including Ted Talks and NPR resources. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wtbdqIds_3c

Pledges to date for our READathon total $12,759!  Way to go MM mustangs! Congratulations to our two Principal of the Day winners, Olivia Haskins in 5th grade ($700) and Russell Stanley in kindergarten ($790)! We have 23 students who earned a Golf N Stuff day, 53 students earned $10 gift certificates to the book fair, and 64 students earned $5.00 certificates.  Thank you to the 73 students who participated! With the exception of sixth grade, all classes earned a movie and popcorn. We will be scheduling this special day soon. Thanks again for supporting this fundraiser!

The deadline for enrollment in the enrichment class is tomorrow, Friday, March 22.  If classes are not full, we will extend the deadline.

Please be cautious while driving through the parking lot. You never know when a little one might dart out in front of a car. If you are dropping off your child, please make sure they use the crosswalk if you are dropping them off in the land next to the shorter fence.  Please do not allow them to cross anywhere else.

The fifth grade students had an amazing time during their three days at the Catalina Island Marine Institute. Thank you for giving up your weekend in order to make this happen for the students, Ms. Hughart, Ms. Dzukola, and Ms. Patsch! Thank you parent chaperones!

Speaking of chaperones, Ms. Nicole and Ms. Amanda will be assigning students to drivers for the Museum of Tolerance trip. Thank you drivers! If you intend to drive your own child only, please make sure they know that ASAP.

Letters regarding attendance concerns will be sent home soon. We will be mailing many tardy letters. Tardy students impact the teacher, classmates, and your child.  Please help your child develop good habits by getting them to school on time.
