We have a wonderful parent community at our school. Parents participate as helpers in the classroom, coordinators and volunteers of fundraising events, and by donating their time and talents as needed for activities such as our annual Winter Program. We welcome their efforts! Their partnership and involvement on campus reinforce the important concepts of participation and teamwork to our students.

Parents of San Antonio students are automatically members of the PTO. This group supports our school by organizing volunteers for a variety of activities and events, and by fundraising projects undertaken to supplement the existing school budget. They also contribute to the strong sense of school community by providing opportunities for parents to meet and work with one another: at barbeques, art auctions, Jog-a-thons, Book Fairs, direct donation drives (questions? call the office at 640-4373) and other activities. Their partnership with our teachers and principal, as well as their interaction with students, is an essential component in the success of our campus.
Meetings are held on the first Monday of the month at 8:15 and parents are encouraged to attend and participate! Everyone is welcome, and every idea is entertained. Currently, the PTO donates money each year to provide enrichment in each classroom, and teachers can use this support for field trips, classroom supplies, or for special guest speakers. Although each year is different, here is a sampling of some of their past contributions:
Provide funding for a reading specialist for students identified as needing extra supportProvide funding for increased playground supervision for recess and lunchtimesProvide funding for art programs Provide funding for Winter Program needsProvide funding for conference attendance Provide activities for Back to School Night and Spring ShowcaseCoordinate a variety of After School Enrichment Classes for students each trimester
School Site Council
Our School Site Council is comprised of the principal, staff members, and parents. Members review, assess, discuss and recommend changes and updates to the annual Single School Plan. In this plan, three goals are formulated as focus areas for achievement and/or improvement at our campus. Council expenditures from the School Improvement Plan budget (provided by the State) must align with these goals.
Current focus areas are the English Language Arts, Math, and Science.
