First Day of the 2019-20 School Year Aug. 21

Permission slips for our ninth annual Bike Ride to the Pier were sent home this week with students who earned them by having both good behavior and a positive attitude during PE all year. all year.  We need parent participation in order to take this trip. Please be sure to return the form ASAP if you intend to join your child on this fun adventure. We need support vehicles, riders, and parents willing to prepare our lunch.

Third and fourth grade students will be finished with their CAASPP (California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress) testing this week. This coming week, fifth grade students will take the CAASPP CAST (California Science Test) on Thursday and Friday. The following week, fifth and sixth grade will take the ELA and math tests.  Please be sure they eat an especially healthy breakfast and get a good night’s sleep. We want them to do their best!

Our End-of-the-Year survey will be sent home soon. Please watch for it.  Please complete it even if your child will not be returning to Mira Monte next year. Your input is important to us!

Kids Club at MM will be available next year for students currently in grades 5 and 6. Homework time will be scheduled at the beginning of each day.  There is a bus from Matilija that stops in front of the school daily. Please let Amanda know ASAP if you are interested.

Students are off to an excellent start with MyON. Again, please let us know if your child is having difficulty accessing MyON from home. This is an excellent resource for reading materials that students will be able to access through the end of July. If the feedback from teachers, students, and parents is positive, we’ll order the program for the school next year. We’d appreciate it if you would take a look at it with your child so that you can provide us with feedback. Students use their Google login and passwords to access their accounts.  In TK and kindergarten, students access the accounts using the following:

Sears students: username is initials followed by k1  Password is 1234, Damianos students: username is initials followed by k2  Password is 1234, Hull students: username is initials followed by k3 Password is 1234

Since the TK and K technology has been glitchy, students in these grades may not have had access yet at school. Please help them log in the first few times.  The MyOn link is located on the bottom right of our http://miramonte.name/ website. You can also get to it directly through this link: https://www.myon.com/school/miramonteojaiusd

Here are a couple additional helpful links: “Using myON at Home” (English and Spanish) https://support.myon.com/resources-tutorials/overview “Mobile Devices” https://support.myon.com/content/mobile-devices-and-apps (for OFFLINE reading)

The final deadline for registration for those camping or coming for the movie only is May 29th.  The deadline for receiving the free t-shirt with registration ends on 5/17/19.
