Our last Food Truck event is this Friday, May 3rd from 5-8pm. The theme of the event is Cinco de Mayo! We will have Mariachis performing from 6-6:30 and BINGO from 6:30-8:00. Parents will be making homemade elotes and agua fresca. The food trucks will include the following: Fernando's Churros, Gios Tacos and Burritos, Grilled Cheese Truck, and Rice Balls of Fire
Thank you for the cards, gifts, and flowers on National Principals’ Day. I felt SO appreciated!
Speaking of appreciation, the week of May 13-17 is our teachers and support staff appreciation week. A note is being sent home this week about special gifts. Please watch for this note.
On Friday, students will hear about a new online reading resource that our school is piloting for the remainder of the year. We will make a decision at the end of the year whether or not we want to purchase a school license for the program for next year. The program is called MyOn. It is a resource for thousands of online digital books. Most of these books have an audio recording students can listen to and follow along. When the students initially log into MyOn, students take a placement test and then an interest inventory. The program then makes suggestions for books that students might enjoy that are at their reading level. The number of books students read are tracked in the program. The books that have AR tests available (most of the books), also have a short quiz at the end of the book that students can use as a practice quiz before taking the AR test at school. Login info was sent home this week. Students use their Google login and passwords to access their accounts. In TK and kindergarten, students access the accounts using the following:
Sears students: username is initials followed by k1 Password is 1234
Damianos students: username is initials followed by k2 Password is 1234
Hull students: username is initials followed by k3 Password is 1234
Since the TK and K technology has been glitchy, students in these grades may not have had access yet at school. Please help them login the first few times.
Here are a couple additional helpful links: “Using myON at Home” (English and Spanish) https://support.myon.com/resources-tutorials/overview “Mobile Devices” https://support.myon.com/content/mobile-devices-and-apps (for OFFLINE reading)
