Dear Chaparral Families
There was a situation this morning that caused CHS and the DO to go on lockdown at A parent brought information forward that several students were concerned about coming to school after a student posted pictures of bullets and asked how he could get a gun. The police are involved and actively investigating the situation. They allowed us to lift the lock-down by 9:00 this morning, and do not believe there is a threat at this time. At no time was there an intruder on campus, armed or otherwise, and no threats were made against the school or any individuals or groups, but we acted out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our students and staff while the investigation was being conducted.
I am pleased with the quick reactions and compliance of students and staff. I realize that it is very distressing for everyone when there is a lock-down and a perceived threat. We will have counselors on campus tomorrow to support any student who feels anxious or needs additional support. The safety of our students is our number one priority. I am happy to answer any questions that you may have.
