Dear Matilija and Nordhoff Families,
I want to begin this message by thanking you; our entire staff, our students, and our families for your fortitude as we have completely re-engineered the way we live, learn, work, and play. This continues to be an evolving process and we are working every day to make improvements.
We want our OUSD community to know that we are taking every precaution to keep our students safe when and if they chose to return to campus. For this reason, and after much discussion with staff, parents, and our Board Members, we are electing to move the start of our secondary small cohorts returning to campus by two weeks. Nordhoff and Matilija students who would like to return to campus are now scheduled to return after Presidents’ Week break, on February 22.
During this time, we will be finalizing the implementation of new safety measures, hiring additional staff, providing training as directed by new OSHA and Public Health regulations that were just released, and ensuring social-distancing can be easily effected on campuses and in classrooms. While this news may be disappointing, we need to ensure that the safety measures we have said we will implement are fully in place before students return.
We’ve updated all communications to parents, including our:
- Return to Campus for Secondary Cohorts page, which includes information about the new schedules at both MMS and NHS and a recording of our Townhall meetings from last week
- COVID-19 Safety Protocols
- COVID Dashboard
As always, if you or your students are in need of support in any way, please fill out our Help form here.
