HARASSMENT/BULLYING COMPLAINTS

Mental and Health Services: In keeping with our District’s mission and vision, we recognize the importance of mental health as a critical component to a student’s ability to learn. We believe all students have the right to access comprehensive health services in order to achieve success.

Harassment and Bullying: The Board of Education recognizes the harmful effects of bullying on student learning and school attendance and desires to provide safe school environments that protect students from physical and emotional harm. The Ojai Unified School District establishes clear rules for student conduct as well as reporting mechanisms and consequences for perpetrators of bullying.

Crisis Management: Upon notification of a crisis situation related to students or staff, site administration will refer to the appropriate emergency protocols listed in the Appendix of the OUSD Student Wellness Policy. In the event information needs to be shared, every effort will be made to consider the family’s wishes as related to disseminating information to the student body or staff. Confidentiality by all staff will be maintained and no information or action will occur without prior approval from the school’s administration. It is a priority for our school district to consider privacy and sensitivity relative to the circumstance.

UNIFORM COMPLAINT PROCEDURE


Any individual, public agency or organization may file a written complaint of alleged noncompliance with the District by completing the appropriate notification form. The Uniform Complaint Form may be obtained by Kathy Smith, Executive Assistant to the Superintendent, at the District office at 414 E. Ojai Avenue, Ojai, CA 93023. Kathy can be reached at (805) 640-4300 x 1011.

UNIFORM COMPLAINT POLICY

The District designates the individual identified below as the employee responsible for coordinating the District's response to complaints and for complying with state and federal civil rights laws. The individual also serve as the compliance officer.  The individual shall receive and coordinate the investigation of complaints and shall ensure district compliance with law.

The compliance officer who receives a complaint may assign another compliance officer to investigate the complaint.  The compliance officer shall promptly notify the complainant if another compliance officer is designated to investigate the complaint.
